Waste to Energy Considered on a Large Scale in Dubai

Waste to Energy Dubai 

Dubai is considering plans for a Waste to Energy (WtE) incineration plant designed to accommodate 6500 tonnes of waste per day, generating an estimated 150 MW of power, report the Khaleej Times.

With nearly four million tonnes of municipal waste generated last year, there is mounting pressure in Dubai to dispose or recycle the piles of waste generated in the emirate, the Waste Management Department of the Dubai Municipality (DM) announced the ?final date for submitting bids for the plant.

The DM has announced that it will accept the bids till December 19, from among the 11 companies which participated in the bidding process following an international pre-qualification round.

A workshop for the qualified companies was also conducted last week to solicit suggestions from people in ?

the field, said the Director-General of the DM, Hussain Nasser Lootah.
